From now on is the right time for families to book their summer holidays, and decide where to go. You want somewhere with great value, beautiful beaches, lots of sun and plenty to entertain the kids, so where do you choose?

The Mediterraneo Hotel shows you five destinations for family summer holidays in 2012, including Benidorm.

Greece

Although the current financial crisis in Greece has caused major problems for the country, it also means that there are some great bargains to be had on cheap family holidays this year. Perhaps the best value of all is to be found on the beautiful Santorini and Kefalonia, with picturesque beaches, quaint architecture and great routes for hiking in the hills.

San Diego

While the US state of Florida has always remained a popular choice for family summer holidays, this year San Diego in California has also proved to provide great value to families. With 70 miles of fine sandy beaches, one of the world’s best zoos, countless parks and gardens, a LEGOLAND and a SeaWorld, it’s a sure choice for a great family summer holiday.

Bulgaria

Somewhere new on the family beach holiday scene in the last couple of years is Bulgaria. Still not yet with the Euro zone, Bulgaria makes for a good budget beach break. With a striking coastline along the Black Sea and stunning scenery too, it makes a great option for the whole family. Try to family friendly resort of Golden Sands with a great Blue Flag beach and check out our guide to Eastern Europe’s best beach resorts for other good resorts in the region.

Benidorm, Spain

Spain and Benidorm have always been a favourite holiday destination with the Brits and it looks like it will remain that way for years to come. Here, you’re guaranteed sunny weather, great beaches, fascinating culture and plenty of activities. Last year Spain was named by Post Office Travel Money as the cheapest destination in Europe, and this year prices have not risen by much, giving you great value too. Our hotel is a perfect option if you are looking for a Benidorm Summer Holidays 2012.

We remind you that the Mediterraneo Hotel is considered as one of the best family hotels in Benidorm and even de Costa Blanca.

Thailand

Thailand is becoming more and more of a family destination and not just one that caters to the backpackers anymore. Flights to Thailand may not be that cheap, but once you’ve realised how cheap accommodation, food and activities are when you get there, you may find that you end up paying just a few more as going somewhere in Europe anyways. Try the family friendly resort of Hua Hin, a favourite with Thai locals, as well as tourists from Scandinavia. The resort has lots of family activities as well as all modern amenities, such as shopping malls and cinemas, but is a far removed from the somewhat sleazy resorts of Pattaya and Phuket.

Spain and France are still the top destinations for British people buying a second home abroad, according to the latest search report from Rightmove Overseas. Some 21.01% of searches for overseas property were for Spain followed by 17.91% for France and 12.06% for the US.

Traditional locations in Spain such as such as Benidorm, Villamartin and Torrevieja have all seen an upsurge in interest, according to Rightmove Overseas. ‘This is probably down to the British people who like to look for property where they holiday, like many customers from the Mediterraneo Hotel that. after coming to our hotel for some years, they decide to move to Benidorm or just stay here for at least 6 months.

With Sterling continuing to hold above the €1.20/£1 level it is no surprise there is increased interest in buying in the eurozone.

Benidorm is still a desired place for UK second home owners

But people buying in the Balearics need to be aware that the Property Transfer Tax is due to increase from 01 May. ‘The eurozone debt crisis is weighing heavily on the European Central Bank’s and politicians’ shoulders which makes sterling appear to be attractively stable and increase in value. Buyers would do well to push through any transactions prior to that date. New build homes are exempt from ITP and instead are subject to IVA which has been reduced from 8% to 4% to inject life into the property market. This incentive came into play in the middle of 2011 and has been extended to the end of 2012.

Do you think Spain would be a nice place to live? Come to our All inclusive Hotel in Benidorm, enjoy the town and the surrouding villages and discover yourself why Benidorm is still a popular destination for second home owners.

The Spanish airport authority AENA, has announced that they have received 15% more requests for flight slots in summer 2012 for the Alicante airport, which includes new operators flying to 14 of the 15 destinations that the withdrawal of Ryanair would have affected.

Although Ryanair has yet to officially respond to the latest court ruling, or to AENA´s offer to allow them to use bus connections to the terminal building, it is believed that the airline are planning to reinstate some of their withdrawn routes in March. They have listed flights on their website between El Altet and various previously withdrawn airports, including Bournemouth, Cork, Kerry and Knock.

From April, WOWAIR will offer two new weekly flights from Alicante to Reykjavik in Iceland and Zurich, increasing frequency as the year progresses with Swiss airline Edelweiss Air.

Air Berlin announced direct flights to Nuremberg, in addition to those already operating in Munich, Hamburg and Berlin.

Jet2.com will open a link with Edinburgh and increase frequencies to Belfast, East Midlands (Nottingham) and Newcastle. Easyjet will add a new route to the fourth airport in London (Southend) and Bmibaby will operate to Belfast-City airport.

The Russian market will also be strengthened this year, in line with the influx from this part of the world, with direct flights to Moscow from June 2012 with two regular daily flights operated by Siberia Airlines, which currently connects the Costa Blanca and Russia three times per week, and Aeroflot which will begin a direct route from Alicante to Sheremetyevo. In addition, the province will have from April a weekly charter flight to St. Petersburg.

Sweden will strengthen the link with Scandinavian Airlines to Stockholm from late June. Norway will benefit with the extension of a new destination launched this winter to Alesund, along with a strengthening of connections to Oslo.

Finland will have an additional frequency operated by Norwegian airlines to Helsinki, and Belgium will increase its connections with the extension of a link to Charleroi, operated by Air Berlin from this winter.

Alicante airport saw 10 million passengers in 2011, which was an increase of 500,000 on the previous year. The visitors were from groups of young friends, family holiday packages and so on. With the latest announcements of route extensions, the airport is setting its place as one of the major hubs in air travel across Europe and beyond.

It quite common for us to see every day the name of the Mediterraneo Hotel written at the entrance of the Hotel, in the brochures, in E-mails or over the Website… Although for our customers who only have stayed with us a few holiday days or even those who have heard about us from family or friends comments, the search of a nice Benidorm hotel is not so easy when writing the “Mediterraneo” word.

And we can affirm this because thanks to our stats program that we use to see how you reach our Website, we can see which keywords you entered, for example in Google, to find us.

Sometimes we write too quickly and other times we don’t know exactly how to write word, so all of us can make mistakes when writing the name of the Mediterraneo Hotel. But we are lucky because search engines like Google are smarter every day, so they can recognize spelling errors and show the results that should have appear if we had used the proper keywords.

Google is able to detect spelling errors and show the right results

Made this small introduction, we are pleased to show you some search terms thanks to which you have found us:

meditteraneo hotel

mediteraneo hotel

mediteranneo hotel

meditaraneo hotel

meiterraneo hotel

medditeraneo hotel

meditareno hotel

Also by means of all this information we can know that the most interesting sections for you are: all inclusive, reviews and Thomas Cook.

And finally the different ways to look for Benidorm: benudorm, benidrm, benidorn, benidrom, benidor or even benadorm.

Even with so many different terms, you are able to reach us. So thanks for your royalty and thanks also to Google to make our live a bit easier.

More than 300 days of sunshine a year ain’t bad. And this year even we are experimenting temperatures close to 20 degrees during the day! The holiday season is long and wonderfully warm in Alicante, the gateway to the Costa Blanca. Direct connection with our Benidorm hotel and with the classic sun, sea, sangria and holiday fun, but you can also combine time on the Levante beach with a city break in Alicante itself. It’s a stylish place with spacious plazas, wide palm tree-lined boulevards and a palpable Mediterranean culture.

The best time to visit is for Hogueras de San Juan – a lively and colourful annual fiesta celebrating the summer solstice, when residents party in the streets.

First Choice has announced during last week the launch of a new brand-building campaign as it seeks to move over to an all all-inclusive offering from May 2012.

Shot at the new First Choice Holiday Village Tenerife, the advertising campaign will appear on TV and in the national press in United Kingdom. It will also be visible throughout the 800 plus retail shops.

The campaign celebrates the sense of “carefree indulgence” a First Choice customer can expect on an all-inclusive holiday. The same experience that our customers feel when they visit our all-inclusive hotel in Benidorm.

Existing customers will receive personalised direct mail offering recommendations from First Choice based on their past holidays. Using QR (quick response) codes and their smart phones, they will be able to link direct to the suggested holiday page on the First Choice website.

From 2004-2009 the all-inclusive holiday market grew by 32 per cent and in April this year, First Choice announced it was to become the UK’s first mainstream holiday company to offer 100 per cent of its hotels and resorts on an all-inclusive basis, including the Hotel Mediterraneo Benidorm.

“The new advert plays an important role in further differentiating the two leading TUI UK brands – First Choice and Thomson.”

And do not forget that the Hotel Mediterraneo has the First Choice award.

The Benidorm hoteliers association HOSBEC has announced that 2011 has proven to be a good year for the tourism industry, marking the best year since the start of the current economic crisis.

View of the Benidorm beach during the month of December

However, rentals of apartments have dropped again, with many more holiday makers taking advantage of the special deals that hotels and package holiday companies are making, rather than the self catering option. There has been a noticeable increase in the number of all inclusive breaks in Benidorm, which allow families to budget better for their break away.

At times, Benidorm has seen almost 100% occupancy throughout this year, which has been helped by things like the early December days occurring on Tuesday and Thursday, thus allowing many Spaniards to take the whole week as a holiday.

Today starts de Benidorm Pride 2011

The event has three main stages 57 hours of live entertainment with 167 artists appearing from all over Europe. The gay community, both English and Spanish, need to get behind this event to show Benidorm that we are all PROUD of who we are. Artists from Benidorm Palace and also including international singers and celebrities from around Europe will be hosted on three stages, located on the Aiguera Park. On entering the park, two main stage areas will provide entertainment over the next three nights.

Schedule

The event starts Friday 21st October with a themed Parade: ‘Come as you Dare’. This colourful spectacular will soon become a major event in the Spanish Fiestas calendar – Expect to see the colourful and the outrageous on the streets.

The Pride Parade will leave Av. Madrid at 6.15pm and wind its way down Av. de Alcoy, Av. Bilbao, Av. Mediterraneo and Rotonda de Correos to the L’Aiguera Park.

Molino Benidorm will entrance the crowd with the opening spectacular followed by a tribute to Zanzibar Revisited, a famous old gay bar that has been closed for many years. Benidorm Palace will provide the Glitz and Glamour, in a special tribute. We will then see several headliners to close the show in the Park.

Two satellite stages open at 9pm, the first in Plaza Constitucion and also Escanario Mercado. These stages will host local talent through till 2am. Members of the BGBA will provide their own forms of entertainment through till 6am. The first of three major themed night parties starts at 2am. Frenetica are launching off the Party season: these scintillating events are to become a monthly feature on the Benidorm Gay Scene.

After the main stage in Parc D’ L’aiguera closes at 10.30pm, two satellite stages in Plaza constitucion and Escanario Mercado (Opposite Open Mind) will open from 10pm till 2am, with gay businesses entertaining until the early hours. The Park opens Saturday and Sunday at 12 noon with Hotmale Radio broadcasting live from 12 to 2pm and then the stage line up begins, featuring Sonia, Nicki French and many other Spanish and English artists.

Revellers are going to meet on the Freedom beach on La playa del Mal Pas Saturday and Sunday before the entertainment and parties begin back in the park.

The park will open at 12pm featuring top tunes from Hotmale Radio 95.5 here in Benidorm and 105.7 throughout the Costa Blanca. At approximately 2pm, the entertainment will begin, featuring top English and cabaret artists from the gay scene. At around 7pm an amazing Fashion Show will feature on the main stage area showing the latest ES Collection

Headliners will finish off the Saturday night before returning to the Satellite Stages through till 2am. Fiesta Blanca hosted by Gaydar Es will be the Party to be seen at, starting at 2am and continuing until 8am; one of the major events for the party people attending. All the parties are ticketed events and all three parties tickets are 15€.

Those with staying power have it all to go through again on the Sunday at the park and the parties. There will be a time to reflect on Sunday Night when at approximately 8.30pm a Candlelit Vigil will remember all our friends present and past. This emotional hour will be followed by closing artists.

Back to the Satellites till Midnight and then those that have the stamina will proceed to The Underground where ‘Heaven’ and ‘Hell’ will be the closing party to end our celebrations.

On Sunday, Benidorm will host the largest gay vigil ever held in Europe with thousands gathering in the Julio Iglesias arena to remember loved ones.

We encourage members of the public to get down and see the parade and support their families and friends who will be in the Parade. All are welcome to the first ever Benidorm Pride!
